St Mary’s School of Dance was started by Marian Goodall in 1986, and is one of Oxford’s longest running dance schools, with branches in Headington, North Oxford, Chalgrove and Sutton Courtenay.
Classes are based on the syllabi of recognised and approved examining bodies, such as the Royal Academy of Dance and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, so parents can be confident that children are safely taught by a highly qualified and experienced teacher, only doing work appropriate to their age. No-one teaches the children apart from Marian, so continuity is maintained with each child every class.
The children focus on Ballet and National Dance but also get as taste of other styles to enhance their learning.
Marian believes that dancing should be part of a child’s overall education. It helps develop co-ordination and musicality, and encourages good posture and self-confidence. She also believes that the learning process should be a positive, enjoyable and rewarding experience……classes should be fun!
